Free Scan to PDF Solution

Not all Scanner come with the option of scanning directly to PDF format. You are usually required to scan to an image format and then convert to PDF.
If you are looking for a solution on how to scan to PDF, you can create a PDF scanner software using two freeware iCopy and CutePDF. You can also use PrimoPDF rather than CutePDF, if you prefer to use PrimoPDF.

Start iCopy and select CutePDF as printer. Now you can scan your documents and save them as PDF.

Using iCopy: The Free Open Source Photocopier

If you have a scanner and printer but no photocopy machine, you can create photocopier using free open source software iCopy.

Simply download iCopy, attach scanner and printer to your computer and you have a simple yet powerful photocopy solution.

Just see how powerful this free software is

  • You can choose Scanner/Printer, if you have multiple Scanners/Printers attached.

  • You can adjust image quality like Brightness, Contrast, and Resolution. You can also scale your document.

  • You can see preview of the document, before printing. It will save you from making bad copy. You can adjust document and quality before printing.

  • You can scan multiple pages before printing. So if you have lots of pages for photocopies, you can scan all pages and then print them. So you don’t have to wait for if you have slow printer.

Using CutePDF: Convert  any file to PDF

If you have any file such as JPEG or PNG  that you want to convert to PDF, you can use PrimoPDF or CutePDF. The only prerequisite is that the file should be printable.

Both these softwares are free and get installed as printer drivers. So, every time you print you can select CutePDF or PrimoPDF as printer, and file will get saved as PDF.

  1. Hi, interest post. I'll write you later about few questions!

  2. In printing virtually to pdf, you have to click "Add Another Page" button for every page. Any shortcut?

  3. iCopy failed to work on my computer. Any known compatibility issues with Windows XP?

  4. I've reloaded the software, CutePDF works but iCOPY has resolution issues. I couldn't get iCOPY to access the Canon fax/copier.
