there is no firefox 3.5.5 extension for upek protector suite 5.8.2.
i have seen everywhere even in upek website toobut there is no extension available there.I found a extension named pbff3.0.xpi but its of no use it asks for 5.9 upek version.please suggest me a way out.

Sorry for all the Posting, but I just noticed something quite extraordinary. If you change the tab to a IE tab (using an addon called “IE Tab”) you can then use Upek. Only downside is that you might not be able to switch back to Firefox tabs and you might lose some functionality of certain addons by switching to IE tabs.

I thought I might share my story so others will know what might work.

I have a XPS 1530 (from Dell). I did the above and it worked. But later I updated Firefox or did something, and it stopped working. Just today, I reinstalled both dll’s, firefox addon, and upgraded my Dell driver for Upek’s fingerprint reader. Now all of a sudden, its working again.

I think the big issue w/ Fingerprint reader working w/ Firefox is whether the manufacturer has updated drivers available.

Yes, but as the website your link leads to says, you cannot get it directly from Upek unless you purchase it and you must get it from 3rd party providers such as Toshiba directly. As i said before, Toshiba has not updated it and therefore I can’t update without buying a new version…

*** I apologize, but I was wrong about my last message; the firefox browser does have to be listed and checked under “web browser support” in user options of the control panel (in the fingerprint reader suite software) in order for the password bank to work, regardless of whether or not the patch was installed as an “add-on” in firefox. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, that’s ok. If you want to get the fingerprint reader suite password bank to work for firefox 3, then follow these directions instead of the ones listed at the top of this page: http://www.upek.com/support/customersupport/techsupport/Topic.asp?ID_Topic=53

**Make sure you follow the directions and stop the fingerprint reader process before installing the zip files, or you’ll get an error.**

It works for me now, so I hope this helps you!

Hey, just in case you’re still looking for answers… when you install the patch above, it is added to firefox as an “add-on,” which is why you do not see firefox listed as a browser in the user settings of the fingerprint suite. However, it is listed under “add-ons” in firefox. It works but just a little differently than IE.

Hey, same here, installed firefox add-on and replaced the two dll files, but no firefox entry in the settings even after reboot anyone found a solution for this?

I have just tried. Nope. The version of 5.6.2 on the Toshiba website doesn’t come with the (apparently optional) password bank. Drzzzt
