Offline access to Google Docs is a feature; we have been waiting for some time. Now you can access Google docs and spreadsheet even when you are not connected to the internet and docs will be synchronized when you connect back to internet.
You need Google Gears to access the feature. Google will be rolling the feature slowly in next few weeks, so don’t be surprised if you don’t see the feature in your Google Docs account yet.
