It could be confusing to change settings in Hostmoster to use Gmail as email host rather than Hostmonster. You need to verify domain ownership with Google and change MX record to point it to Google.
In your cpanel, goto Mail and click on MX entry. Create an MX entry for your domain and point it to ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM. Change ‘always accept’ and set it to yes.
